Ferreting experience day worth £350 up for grabs at The Game Fair

A ferreting experience day for two worth £350 will be up for grabs in a fantastic new competition at The Game Fair’s popular Pugs & Drummers stand this year.

Simon Whitehead, an author, professional rabbit controller, filmmaker, and journalist will be running the Pugs & Drummers stand for the 11thconsecutive time at The Game Fair, being held this year at the magnificent Hatfield House in Hertfordshire from Friday 26 July to Sunday 28 July.

Rabbiting enthusiasts and complete beginners will be able to enter the competition for free when they visit the Pugs and Drummers stand by filling in their details and answering a simple question, and a winner will be drawn on the Sunday afternoon on Instagram live.

“It is a fantastic prize for anyone who loves ferreting or would like to give it a try,” said Simon, adding: “Each experience day is completely tailored to the needs of those on the day. It could be an introduction to ferreting, a full day’s ferreting, or a catch and cook day where you harvest, butcher, cook and eat the results of your day. My experience days are so much more than just learning about my world of ferreting but the ability to be able to personally tap into my knowledge, hear my tales and see first-hand the passion I hold for ferreting. I have been ferreting for 35 years and the last 18 I have worked for myself.” Read More

“The competition is an added attraction to the The Pugs & Drummers stand this year. The stand itself will be an epicentre of information – from ferreting, night vision to long netting, photographs and a TV screen explaining the history of harvesting and cooking wild rabbit. The stand is unique and the people on it are unique. We are authentic.”

Simon’s ferreting demonstrations will be held twice a day in the arena next to the stand and he’ll be assisted over the three days by some of the UK’s finest net makers, including Bruce Marks and Ian ‘Torchie’ Clayton. They’ll be demonstrating net making, offering visitors the opportunity to have-a-go themselves, and and sharing their encyclopaedic knowledge.
