The Game Fair has appointed highly experienced shooting and fishing journalist John Hunter to develop and grow its fishing offering at the hugely popular three-day event, which is next being held from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 July at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire.
Warwickshire-based John has worked for David Hall Publishing for more than two decades and is best-known as editor-in-chief of Tackle & Guns and Gun Trade World. John commented: “After 21 years with DHP I felt the time was right for a new challenge. The team which took on The Game Fair last year did a fantastic job and the Ragley Hall event was a tremendous success. There is a massive opportunity for the fishing side of the show to really take off this year and I am delighted to be working with the organisers. I am really looking forward to contacting tackle retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers and other bodies to discuss how they can get involved in this amazing and unique venture.”
James Gower, managing director of The Game Fair, added: “We are delighted to welcome John to the team. His knowledge of the global fishing industry is unrivalled and his appointment will bring real insight. As the new custodians of The Game Fair, we are determined to bring fresh ideas and innovation to The Fishing Village. For too long this section of the event has been lacklustre, we are sure that with John’s energy it will finally realise its full potential.”
