As the world’s largest countryside show, The Game Fair also boasts the most comprehensive outdoor shooting exhibition held anywhere in the UK, with a jam-packed itinerary for all lovers of shooting including clay, rifle and airgun shooting as we all as have-a-go events, demonstrations and competitions.
The falconry displays at The Game Fair are always a huge attraction, enabling you to interact with, learn about and watch many different species of magnificent and awe-inspiring birds of prey. This year’s falconry features a dedicated mini arena where you can get up close and personal with several different species of birds. Managed by John and Charlotte Hill, a father-and-daughter team who run CJ’s Birds of Prey, they will provide you with educational hands-on experiences featuring birds such as a steppe eagle, saker falcon, Bengal eagle owl, harris hawk and a rare eastern chanting goshawk. Gundog Row is the hub for all visitors with an interest in dogs, whether working or family. A wide range of information and products are on offer, including dog food companies, kennels, welfare organisations, gundog training equipment and dog accessories alongside the competition pens and demo arenas.
Competitions and demonstrations in this area are extremely popular, daily attractions and include the International Team Championship and the Euro Challenge.
Horses and hounds
Supported by many of the equine organisations, the Horses and Hounds feature area combines a variety of equine demonstrations and displays with exhibitors offering the latest in tack, equipment, accessories, health care, stabling, equestrian clothing and more.
Pugs and dummers
Hosted by Simon Whitehead of Pakefield Ferrets. The philosophy is to have a spot where everyone can share laughter, learn something about rabbiting or simply have a yarn about rabbiting exploits from the past, present and planned ones for the future.
Simon’s ability to perform with a mixture of enthusiastic and entertaining commentary where the onus is on why it is vital that not only people understand ferreting but more importantly, get newcomers into the countryside to continue this fine tradition.
