Clay Shooting Competitions

This year The Game Fair plays host to a number of exciting competitions suitable for shooters with varying skill levels.  Thanks to our generous sponsors, the prize fund of the Subaru Shooting Line competitions is more than £25,000.

The Game Fair Knock-Out 

The Game Fair Knock-Out is a new 25-bird random knock-out competition consisting of five singles, five on report pairs and five simultaneous pairs. 

This fun and exciting competition will consist of two categories: 

  • Pro class, which is for A class and above 
  • Open class, which is B class and below.  

There will be 10 finalists in each class and all finalists will receive a free entry pass to The Game Fair for a thrilling finals day  on Sunday. FIND OUT MORE

Long-Range Pool Shoot in the Shooting Arena

(14:00 – 16:00, Friday, 27 July only) – £10/go

Are you up for the challenge? 12 extreme long-range clay targets will test everyone’s ability. Just turn up in the Shooting Arena, book in and shoot!


The Game Fair Challenge


Held over all three days to mark The Game Fair’s 60thanniversary, the 60-bird sporting clay competition is expected to attract a stellar entry list. Entry costs £28, re-entry is £20, or you can pay £45 for two attempts. There will be prizes each day in Novice and Open classes. If you’d rather watch, this is a great chance to see the best clay shooters in the business battle it out under pressure for the chance to win a Subaru Forester car for a year in the super final on Sunday afternoon.

The Game Fair Sportrap

This exhilarating 25-bird sporting competition appeals to every ability and calibre of shooter, from the complete novice to the expert. Shot over five stands, five traps and different combinations, comprising single targets with full use of gun, on-report pairs, and simultaneous pairs, which are thrown from five clay pigeon traps on a set menu. Price is £15 per person or two for £25

Flushes and Pool Shoot

Individuals or two-person teams will have the chance to enter a flush shoot competition for rabbit, crazy quail, grouse, or high bird. There will be prizes up for grabs each day. For those who are new to clays, the pool shoot competition, shot with .410 calibre gun, will provide fast-fire fun. For the experienced shooters, it will also be the perfect chance to get your eye in before the bigger competitions.

Champion of Champions

Run by the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), this competition brings together the top guns from across England for a spectacular shoot-out in the main arena. The champion shooter from each county is invited to test themselves in a thrilling event that always pulls in a huge crowd and aims to determine who is England’s best of the best. The winner will be the proud owner of a Bespoke Thewlis Gregson Gunstore worth £4000

Colts Challenge

Another CPSA initiative, this competition is a fantastic chance for the best under-16 shooters in the business to impress under pressure. Huge crowds will be drawn in again to watch the top ten English sporting colts in the country battling it out in the main arena in front of a packed grandstand.
