The herbaceous border in the Charles Stanley Game Fair Gardens is representative of the sort of border you would find in a large country house. Repetitive planting and large numbers of plants are used to make the border look full. Sculptures of birds, hares and fish have been merged with the planting.
The Formal Border reflects the history and planting seen within the formal gardens at Hatfield House itself. Topiary and formal hedging is used to create strong shapes and guide the eyes through the garden.
